Why don’t you yell
To Me
Anymore
Yell with praise
Yell for help
Yell for forgiveness
Get some fire again
Don’t sleep on it
from Him through Him to Him (Romans 11:36)
Why don’t you yell
To Me
Anymore
Yell with praise
Yell for help
Yell for forgiveness
Get some fire again
Don’t sleep on it
It’s broken broken broken
Shards and pieces
Restoration seems
Hopeless
The signal weak
The connection lost
Sitting in the empty
We are all empty
So hungry
There is the fragile one
Struggling with identity
The reckless one
Unable to unmask and be real
The angry one
Burdened by loss
The wounded one
Broken broken broken
What if healing could come?
What if it could renew and fill the void?
What if restoration comes from broken?
The broken bread
The broken body
The curtain torn in two
The relationship reinstated
Praise God for Eden in our own time
One wrong twist
Separation of tissue
In just the right place
One tiny microbe
One chaotic cell
We are incredibly fragile
I know it sounds trite
But every day
Every breath
Every heartbeat
Is a miracle
All that seems so real
Heavy, permanent
Dependable
Whosh
Gone in a moment
These fleshly eyes
Just can’t see
The one thing
The only thing
That is actually real
We get a whiff, a glimpse
A peek
But the only thing
That isn’t fragile
That can’t be broken
Can’t be understood
This side of heaven
So how do we live that
How do we live that out
Daily, being attached
But not dependant
Being present
But not focused
Knowing it will all fade
Knowing it won’t last
That it is not ours
To govern or protect
It’s just not ours at all
Period
Not even that breath
Not even that heartbeat
God, teach us how to love deeply
With a light touch
Teach us how to give our all
To the only real thing
Either He is
In control
Or He isn’t
Either He is sovereign
And Lord of life
Or He can’t be
Either He loves you
In a more profound way
Than you can ever fathom
Or He doesn’t
There is no kinda here
There is no part-time savior
There is no I healed you that time
But this time I won’t
There is only
I work all things for good
And I love you
And I know it’s impossible
To understand
So have faith instead
Let Me step in
Let Me give you relief
Don’t be afraid
Let the inconvenient
Lap your toes
Come close
Let go into it
Fear not
Lean in
You can struggle
For perfect, for comfort
Or you can embrace
His perfect
Mixed with the trials
You will
Walk on water
Taste the goodness
Stop living like paupers
We are royalty
Sons and daughters
Of the Most High
A cacophony of sound
Every tick, thump
Shriek, wump
Honk, bang, yell
Up and down
Up and down
The volume of life
Goes up and down
Herein lies
The distraction
The over stimulation
But when the lion of Judah
Roars into your life
Like the sound of the surf
On a beach
Everything else
Becomes padded
Neutralized
Hushed
Hush world, hush
Roar Lord, roar!
Somewhere we dropped
Ordinary
You shall do
No ordinary work
On the sabbath
But with the temple sacrifices
A thing of days gone by
What is left?
Sitting idle
Jesus did
No ordinary work
On the sabbath
He did
Extraordinary work
Healing, giving, teaching
We know he kept the law
But new testament writers
Didn’t reveal much to us
Of Jesus going to the temple
For sacrifice
They did reveal
Jesus going to the temple though
To be in his father’s house
To defend it, to turn the tables over
To heal
This is
The extraordinary work
We are to do the same
Every day sabbath
I’m coming after You
I’m running after You
Touching that robe
It’s not enough
I’m seeking
Full embrace
Complete revelation
Moses was glowing
I want to be
A burning bush
I want to be
Set ablaze
It’s not enough
Five minute devotional
It’s not enough
Heighten my awareness
Of You
What You’re up to
Where I should be going
(Following)
Who I should be loving
(All)
It’s not enough
And I’m not stopping
Don’t let life
Stop you from life
Dig in deep
Go back to basics
To the very beginning
If needed
Build community
When Adam
Was placed in the garden
Though alone
Community began
God said “name them”
One by one, know
All around you
Not through introduction
But through you creating
Significance
Name them
Don’t give distractions
A second thought
Take it captive
Crucify it
Adam only needed one
One taunt
One what if
In following that trail
He lost his community
Don’t be afraid
To start over if needed
But be prepared
It takes work
Community doesn’t
Fall into your lap
Delight, as you are able
As God gives you the ability
In the work of your hands
And name them again
In prayer
One by one
Present them to God
Ask His blessing
Beseech His grace
Implore His mercy
When He came to them
In His resurrection body
The scars were there
And
Peace was there
Often we pray
For help
For healing
But under it all
It’s relief we seek
We pray for Him to
Wipe away every tear
We envision heaven on earth
Perhaps
It’s time to envision earth in heaven
Maybe we will still have scars too
Maybe we will remember
Every pain, every trial
Every pain, every trial
Now diminished in the revelation
Of who we are are
Because of who he is
So maybe nothing changes
Except there are no more tears
Transfiguration of our hearts
